"He couldn't hold his liquor for shit back then," he comments in a tone that shows it's said with fondness and not in any way a judgment to their friend's pre-serum constitution. Even with the way he has a habit of not getting as involved with their group ( not even compared to Steve, because he's realizing it's a different kind of exhaustion to try and compare himself and his actions to Steve's ), he still finds it within himself to be grateful there are other people who give a damn about Steve in the way that he does and has for as long as he can remember ( his time as the Winter Soldier aside ). But he nods when she says she'll text Valkyrie, because now he might be considering if he's gonna drink some Asgardian mead then maybe Steve oughta take another shot at it. If he mentions that he knows the way he's unsure of her action of crossing her heart, that will only double.
Bucky can't help the way he smiles a little at seeing the cats getting along, especially when Alpine doesn't move away or bat at Liho but instead rubs her head along the other cat.
He tries not to talk about things before he fell off that train or the people who were in his life ( aside from Steve ), if he could help it. He was still trying to connect who he was now to the person he was back then and it might probably be a long while before he makes heads or tails on that, so it was always better not to think about it too much. It's why he is wordless as he follows her into the living room and only pauses long enough to figure out where to sit. She has more options on where to sit than his place does and even then he usually ends up on the floor.
He ultimately picks the couch, even if he's sitting a little straighter, not really all that relaxed about it ( at least sitting on her couch doesn't feel like when he'd sit on the couch at therapy ) but he's trying. He'll try.
"I'll borrow the books you have," he says after that long beat between her offer to let him borrow them and them settling on the couch. There had even been another sip at his drink in there. "They can't be all that fake, from what you said."
