It's a tightrope walk. She wants him to be able to trust his memories as he recovers them, and she knows that's going to be a challenge no matter what. Providing balancing, making sure he has a net underneath him - those are things she can do. All she can do is hope for the best.

Just that she likes to think a few steps ahead, and part of her thinks he might be easier to recognize here so close to Russia. There's a lot to be said for plausible deniability. She takes her own phone out, from a different pocket than the burner she brought for him, but doesn't start typing yet. Instead she looks at him in silent thought for a moment. "Are you okay with me giving Steve an update? I can buy you more time before talking to him if he knows you're safe. That's all he wants."
